WEDDINGSWeddings are the coolest thing I get to take pictures of. Really. As a working newspaper and freelance photojournalist I'm called on to make all kinds of pictures under all kinds of adverse conditions. I hang out of planes and blimps aiming my camera at U.S. Army parachutists plummeting to Earth in clouds of red smoke. I ride backwards at the tail end of dogsled teams, flying across frozen lakes shooting pictures long after I've lost all feeling in my fingers and toes. I stand outside courthouses in the rain for hours waiting for the police to haul suspects up the steps past my lens. So you see, when I get the call to shoot a wedding -- a joy-filled day of celebration, love and beauty featuring a happy couple kissing on a warm June morning or crisp October afternoon -- I do a happy dance. When you hire me to make pictures on your big day you get all the visual storytelling skills I've learned as a photojournalist. You get my reliability, my eye for revealing details and my ability to capture the moment without directing it. I'll be more of an observer than a ringmaster at your wedding. Every wedding is different, so my one and only wedding package is completely customizable. Let's meet for coffee (I like it strong with lots of cream and sugar) and find out just what you need. Packages, which always includes a full day of shooting, starts at $2200 and goes up from there. I offer tons of album and print options, online galleries and DVD slideshows. OTHER THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOWI would do anything for love, but I won't do that. I should tell you up front, I'm not a part of the "bridal industrial complex." I don't manufacture thousands of cookie-cutter wedding photos every weekend and then stuff them into white leather albums that spend the next ten years sitting under your coffee table. Your wedding is more important than that and the pictures are, too. Besides, you're likely to spill stuff on them if they're down there. I only do a select handful of weddings per year, so when you call me with a question I'm the one who picks up the phone and I'll know who you are. I promise not to wear a white belt with checkered pants and I promise to never ask you to say cheese. (That's why they call those kind of pictures "cheesy.") I am first, foremost and for all time, a photojournalist. I tell stories with pictures. Photoshop is just a tool. Don't get me wrong, I've got a computer and I use Photoshop to process images, but they're not the heart of what I do. I shoot your wedding in real time. I capture meaningful moments, fleeting smiles and beautiful scenes as they happen. I don't manufacture them later with a computer because, aside from being boring for me to work on, they're not real. I want the pictures to be about you, your day and that glow you have; not about some bizarre Photoshop effect that will look incredibly outdated and tacky in a couple of years. Honesty and beauty don't go out of style. Besides, your wedding day will be chock-full of romantic, meaningful moments to photograph. There's no need to waste your time constructing fake ones. Don't worry, I've got it covered. The last thing I want you to do on your wedding day is fret about the pictures. That's my job. We will have sat down a couple times before your big day and I'll have all the photographic details worked out. Your wedding day will unfold as it's supposed to. I'm not a schedule junkie. I'll arrive early when you're getting ready, stay late into the reception and spend most of the day with you. I promise to show up on time, I'll have spare equipment and if my car breaks down I have Triple A. So, sit back, have a sip of champagne and let wonderful things happen. |

"Within minutes of his meeting my mother, he had her at ease and relaxed and laughing. Troy never posed any of us, never got in the way while we prepared, never snapped a flash in our faces as we were having a special moment; he quietly went about his work making it easy for us to concentrate on having a fun wedding."ROBERT AND MELISSA
"Troy never added to the commotion. He faded into the background... I remember going through the pictures with my wife afterward and saying more than once when I saw a great photo, 'when did he shoot that?'."JEFF AND LESLIE |
